When your house has distinct Elizabethan, Gothic or (Mock)Tudor details, it’s a great opportunity to bring those carved flourishes into your kitchen design. Tudor-style kitchens often have refectory tables in the middle (where space allows) as a central focal point, and cabinets with carved detail that are befitting of the property.
In the UK, there are many Tudor and Gothic style properties about! We personally live in a Tudor property and the details for us are the key to the design.
Depending on the scale of your space you may opt for one or two very special pieces to give a nod to the history, or you may find that an unfitted kitchen with simpler carvings works best.
I personally love a Tudor kitchen but I always tend to distress paint them. Old carved antiques in a dark wood can feel heavy and dated. Saying that, I don’t think there’s any antique furniture more suited to colour. The carvings just pop when you splash some vibrancy on these old pieces!
Some of our best kitchens have been in the Tudor style. They are by far the most beautiful and most impactful.
All of our antique units have been jet washed, stripped of chemicals, frozen (if woodworm is present) and coated with food grade solutions to ensure a safe space for food prep. We can paint them in any pallete to match your space and if you’re unsure, we can help you choose the right colour too.
